I hate seeing Zosia eat play dough, and she does it everytime she gets a chance. I then see this horrible colouring dripping from her mouth
Not long ago I received a recipe for a home made play dough from one of the mums (thank you Hazel!) involved in organizing “mucky pups”-messy play group for toddlers (Aberdour church, 9.45 on Mondays).
Play dough they have there is different, it’ nicer and I recently found out it was home made! Here is the recipe, let me know how it went if you get a chance to make it yourself.

Play Dough Recipe
Ingredients
-
200g plain flour
-
100g salt
-
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
-
1 tablespoon oil (e.g. vegetable oil)
-
300ml water
-
A few teaspoons of food colouring (optional)-I might be trying betroot juice for red
Method
-
Put the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil into a large, microwavable bowl.
-
Add the food colouring to the water.
-
Gradually add the liquid to the ingredients in the bowl and mix well, trying to get rid of as many lumps as possible.
-
Put the bowl, uncovered, in the microwave and cook on full-power for 1 minute.
-
Use oven gloves to remove the bowl from the microwave and stir well.
-
Continue to cook the dough on full-power for 3-5 minutes, stirring every minute.
-
The dough is cooked when it’s very stiff and comes away from the side of the bowl.
-
Scrape the dough out of the bowl and place on a heat-proof surface. Cover with cling film to prevent a crust from forming and allow to cool until it can be safely handled.
-
Knead the dough thoroughly until it becomes smooth and pliable and holds its shape well.
-
Store the play dough in a sealed food bag inside an air-tight container.
